Manassas Park Schools - Four projects totalling $75 million from 1997 through present. 400,000 sf, multi-level high school, elementary schools and high school additions. Structural steel frame with concrete on metal deck floors, pre-engineered gymnasium. Award winning architecture.
Wilson Memorial / Stuarts Draft Schools - Fishersville / Stuarts Draft, Virginia Two almost identical schools totalling $35 million comprising new gymnasiums, locker rooms, cafeterias, administration areas and science wings, about 84,000 sf total and extensive renovations to existing schools, about 226,000 sf total. All construction is single-story steel framed and/or masonry bearing wall. Honor Award for Excellence - Central VA Chapter of the AIA
Cougar Upper Elementary School and Pre-K Addition - Manassas, Virginia $30 million 10,500 sf single-story, pre-kindergarten building and 121,000 sf three-story, steel-framed building with classrooms, administrative, media, cafeteria, gymnasium, etc. Concrete deck on steel bar joists, braced frame extensive reinforced concrete retaining walls, conventional foundations, storm water management structures. Pursuing LEED Gold. Honor Award: James River Green Building Council
Freedom High School - South Riding, Virginia - $29+ million steel-framed structure and load bearing masonry designed to provide the community use of 450-seat cafeteria, 1000-seat auditorium (fine arts center), 2,250-seat competition track and lighted football field, 400 seat baseball and softball fields as well as six tennis courts.
Briar Woods High School - Ashburn, Virginia - $26 million steel-framed structure and load bearing masonry designed to provide the community use of 450-seat cafeteria, 1000-seat auditorium (fine arts center), 2,250-seat competition track and lighted football field, 400 seat baseball and softball fields as well as six tennis courts.
Meadowbrook High School Additions - Chesterfield, Virginia - $25 million additions and renovations to the existing school including a 900-seat auditorium. Renovations to the dining facility. The new additions total about 85,000 sf and the renovations involve about 185,000 sf. 2006 State Excellence in Design Award
Daniel Morgan Middle School - Winchester, Virginia - $25 million 140,000 sf addition of a new gymnasium, cafeteria, administration area, and a two-story classroom wing. 135,000 sq. ft of renovations. Fairfield Middle School - Richmond, Virginia - $20 million new 4,000 sf administration building and renovation of 17 individual buildings.
Manassas Park Middle School - Manassas Park, Virginia - $18 million 120,000 sf new construction with separate maintenance, gymnasium, and academic buildings. Construction type is pre-engineered metal building, bar joist and concrete deck and composite construction on steel frame. Features long span plate girders supporting library and trusses over about 25,000 sf of renovated space. Honor Award for Excellence - Central VA Chapter of the AIA and Merit Award for Renov.
Poquoson Elementary School - Poquoson, Virginia - $17.5 million new 90,000 sf elementary school with gymnasium, cafeteria, and media center. Steel frame on bearing masonry with butterfly roof over gymnasium in wood and steel. Pursuing LEED Gold. Orange County High School Additions and Alterations - $13 million major renovation to 122,000 sf existing one-three story building. Addition of 25,000 sf of new space containing math/science labs, cafeteria and classrooms. Concrete floors on steel bar joists on structural steel framing. Award Winner - VA School Boards Assoc. Exhibition of School Arch.
Manassas Park High School - $11.2 million new high school, approximately 110,000 sf, on three levels. Includes large gymnasium and round 400-650 seat, multi-purpose auditorium. Structural steel frame, masonry infill, concrete on metal deck.
Appomattox Elementary School - $9 million, approximately 70,000 sf of new construction. Concrete slab on grade. Structural steel frame with bar joists for supported slabs and low-slope roof decks. Fire retardant treated wood trusses for sloped roofs.
Brownsville Elementary School - Crozet, Virginia - $8.2 million 31,950 sf single-story, steel frame addition consisting of two classroom wings, café addition and a pre-engineered steel building, gymnasium with a mechanical mezzanine. Pursuing LEED Gold.
Stafford County Schools - (AG Wright and Stafford Middle School) Stafford Middle School Gym Addition (3 mil cost): The addition was a freestanding one-court gym and an attached weight room consisting of about 7,000 sf. The structure was load bearing CMU walls and open-web bar joists for the roof AG Wright Middle School Classroom Addition (5 mil cost): The addition consisted of science labs and a media center. The structure was load bearing CMU walls and open-web bar joists for the roof. The addition contained about 14,800 sf.
Greene County William Monroe Middle / High School - $8 million, 40,000 sf of expansion of classrooms for both the high school and middle school, expansion of the high school media center, cafeteria, and a new competition gymnasium. The high school classroom addition is a two-story steel-framed structure. The gymnasium is steel framed and designed for future expansion.
Ft. Defiance High School Addition - $7.5 million addition 65,000 sf of new space on two levels plus 14,000 sf gym. Renovation of the existing building.
Burley Middle School Renovations and Additions - Charlottesville, Virginia - $7 million new two-story addition of about 30,000 sf. Miscellaneous renovations of about 16,000 sf.
Manassas Park High School - $7 million three-story addition to the high school, 42,000 sf. Steel frame, concrete floors on bar joists, diagonal steel lateral frame system, conventional foundations, mechanical basement.
Johnson Williams Middle School - Berryville, Virginia - $5.5 million complete renovation of existing 73,000 sf school consisting of 24,000 sf addition, and an 18,500 sf new two-story masonry building.
Buffalo Gap High School Addition - Augusta County - $5.5 million addition of 35,000 sf of new space plus 12,000 sf gymnasium. Renovation of the existing building.
Westwood Hills Elementary School - Waynesboro, Virginia - $5.25 million additions and alterations to elementary school. Steel frame construction.
Clements Middle School Additions and Renovations - Prince George County - $5 million complete renovation of existing school with 39,000 sf of new additions including a science wing and gymnasium.
Louisa County High School Renovation - Mineral, Virginia - $4.8 million partial renovation of the existing high school and a new 15,000 sf commons area addition connecting the two existing school complexes. Structural system consisted of steel-framed roof and exposed concrete columns.
Prince George High School - $3.5 million partial renovation of existing school and additional science classrooms and chiller enclosure.
Garrisonville Elementary Additions - $3.2 million 20,000 sf addition to the existing elementary school.
Waynesboro High School - $3 million partial renovation of the existing high school and a new 8,000 sf dining facility.
Jouett Middle School Additions and Renovations - Charlottesville, Virginia - $3 million renovation of 15,000 sq. ft of existing school including a new one-story, science classroom addition of 17,000 sf.
Gandy Elementary School Addition and Renovations - Hanover - $2.6 million 5,000 sf addition, new roofs and canopies added to existing buildings.
Ecoff Elementary School - Chesterfield - $2.6 million new one-story classroom addition totaling about 11,500 sf. The construction is load-bearing CMU with open-web bar joists for the roof structure.
Albemarle County PREP (Piedmont Regional Educational Program) - Charlottesville, Virginia - $2.6 million 20,000 sf school for County-wide special educational purposes.
Carlisle School Addition - Martinsville - $2.5 million one-story classroom building with half basement, 30,000 sf. One-story lab addition to existing building.
Prince George County New School Board Office - $2.5 million one-story, 20,400 sf office building for the school board administration. Wood MPC trusses framed the roof supported by load-bearing wood stud walls.
Additions to Albemarle County Elementary Schools - Various Locations - $2.2 million additions to Cale, Stoney Point, and Brownsville schools. One story buildings ranging in size from 5,000 sf to 10,000 sf.
Patrick Henry High School - Hanover, Virginia - $2.2 million new 7,400 sf classroom addition and partial renovations.
Donahoe Elementary School Addition - New 16,000 sf one-story classroom addition. Estimated construction cost is about $2 million.
Liberty Middle School Addition - Hanover - The $1.5 million renovation of approximately 6,000 sf and the addition of 7,200 sf (8 classrooms).
Albemarle County High School - Chiller Replacement - Charlottesville - $1.5 million strengthening roof of existing high school for new chiller load.
Louisa County School Administration Building - Mineral, Virginia - A $1.4 million 2-story, 8,400 sf office building composed of a structural steel framing system consisted on steel bar joists, supporting the second floor and light-gage steel trusses for roof framing.
Maybeury Elementary School - New $1.2 million library addition to school. Structural system consisted of glulam timber, wood decking, and masonry columns.
Colonial Heights High School - $120,000.00 Evaluation of distressed exterior masonry veneer and evaluation of slab settlement.
